2018 Conference Details

Our annual HR Conference will be held on January 19, 2018 at the Marriott Tech Center. We anticipate 400+ HR professionals. The theme is Rooted in HR: Cultivate Your Knowledge. The conference program will be organized based on SHRM competencies and professional level (e.g., emerging, established, and experienced HR professional). We are seeking proposals for:

  • Morning plenary - 60-minutes (1 speaker)
  • Concurrent sessions - 60-minutes (12 speakers)
  • “Spark” talks - 10 minutes each (4-5 speakers)

Topics reflecting the theme are encouraged and preferred.  Below is the tentative schedule for the day.

Other speaking opportunities
Throughout the year, MH-SHRM calls on leading HR and business thought leaders to present information of great value to its membership. Presentation opportunities include Professional Development Groups (PDGs), Monthly Member Programs (MMPs), the Annual HR Conference, and Sponsored Webinars:

  • There are ten PDGs listed on the submission form, with specific focuses and audiences (Global, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, HR Strategy and more) offering 25-30 speaking opportunities each year.
  • There are approximately eight Monthly Member Programs each year. These events currently offer networking, breakfast or lunch followed by a speaker presentation.
  • Emerging Leaders Conference held in May or June. As the title indicates, this themed event is geared toward individuals entering the HR profession. Past events have included keynote speakers, panels and Ignite-style presentations.
  • In addition to our HR Conferences, Monthly Member Programs, and Professional Development Groups, Mile High SHRM also provides interested parties the opportunity to reach our members through Sponsored Webinars. These webinars provide organizations the opportunity to present their own HR content and the fee is $1,000. To date, this has been a successful means of educating and reaching our professionals with attendance of 50+ per session. These events may be promoted Statewide to other chapters in Colorado.

The requirements for presentation forums vary but generally need to qualify for educational credits through HRCI and SHRM. Mile High SHRM will facilitate the certification process.

At this time, Mile High SHRM does not pay speaker fees or expenses.


Submitting Your Proposal

Proof of Performance
Video clips of you presenting at a conference or class are the preferred Proof of Performance. Clips of you marketing yourself, business, or service are not acceptable. Failure to submit proof of performance or references that can attest to performance will disqualify you from consideration.

Deadline
Proposals must be received no later than close of business on Friday, August 18, 2017.

Certification
All presentations will be submitted to HRCI and SHRM for recertification credit. The Programs Selection Committee will facilitate this process. 

Preference will be given to presentations that enhance the HR Professional's knowledge and capability in the areas of Business and HR Strategy (SHRM) and Business Management & Strategy (HRCI) and those that address the Global Professional in HR (GPHR) Body of Knowledge. Examples of programs that receive Business and HR Strategy / Business Management & Strategy credit include: 

  • Support participants' knowledge of business functions such as finance, marketing, sales, or operations; 
  • Develop skills in strategic planning, critical thinking, influencing, negotiation, and leadership; 
  • Enable participants to have an impact on their organizations' mission, vision, values, bottom line, policies, or strategic goals and objectives.
  • Programs that receive GPHR credit support the Human Resources professional/business leader who is operating in a multi-national organization.

Practical Application
Sessions that include practical tools and models that can be applied on the job without an investment in additional training or a specific technology are popular with our audience. Models for evaluating training, technology, or other business investments are also useful.

Proven Speaking Ability
We strongly encourage you to submit video proof of your speaking style and presentation skills (web link to YouTube, Vimeo or other video-sharing programs).

Our next RFP will be available in February 2018 to identify speakers for the Emerging Leaders Conference and future speaker opportunities.
