2019 Legislative Preview and Advocacy
Session Description
Mile High SHRM Legislative Director, Colin A. Walker, will provide a recap of the 2019 Colorado legislative session, including new HR-related laws and bills that were introduced but did not pass. The legislative session is well underway and is proving to be eventful. Already, Ban the Box and the pay equity bill have been introduced. The family leave bill “FAMLI” is expected to be introduced shortly. It is too early to say which of these bills will pass, but we will know by August and Mr. Walker will be ready to discuss the situation. On the federal level, Mr. Walker will discuss paid leave legislation, amendment of the overtime regulations, and developments in the Supreme Court and implications of new Justice appointments. COSHRM’s advocacy program will also be discussed, as well as how individuals and companies can make their views known and participate in the legislative process.
