First Rule of Culture Change: Don't Talk About Culture Change

Session Description

Culture is both a result and a foundational aspect of how we approach our work and co-workers every day. It does not exist in the shadows of our companies, or only in team meetings, or in the cafeteria. It is right there, in your face, in all aspects of work every day.   When leaders look to managers and teams to execute on strategy, they are often requesting people to change: to do something new, or even more difficult,  or to do something old, but in a new way. This is when strategy runs right into culture. This is also why a stand-alone culture program won't maximize strategic performance. And, this is why tomorrow's leaders need to build skills and mindset on how to shift culture through real work. In this session, we'll discuss the role culture plays in supporting execution, but also how an inclusive, innovative culture is the output of leaders consciously choosing the behaviors that guide our strategic work. And, we'll give examples of how successfully shifting behaviors to support inclusion and engagement catalyze innovation and agility.
