Government Peer Exchange Hiring and Retention Practices through Skills Based Hiring In this session we will discuss skills-based hiring – a hiring strategy that prioritizes a candidate's demonstrated competencies, practical abilities, and specific technical or soft skills over traditional credentials like college degrees, previous job titles, or years of experience. Learn how skills-based hiring can increase your candidate pool, reduce bias, and improve job fit. Skills-based hiring is integrated throughout the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (BASK), primarily within the People Domain and several Behavioral Competencies, specifically inclusive mindset, critical evaluation, ethical practice and analytical aptitude.
Recognizing the challenges in both hiring and retaining great candidates and employees to work in the government sector, this session is designed for HR professionals working in local, county, state, or federal entities. We look forward to connecting with you! About Your Moderator
