How Do You Identify Colorado Job Candidates that Don't Exist?
Andrew Hudson, Andrew Hudson's Jobs List

The State of Colorado Department of Labor officially declared Colorado as 'below' full employment.  In Colorado, for every open job there is actually -1 job seeker to fill that job.

Think about that: there are fewer job seekers than there are jobs in Colorado!

And even though Colorado has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, employers have still added 750,000 jobs in the past 12 months!

For recruiters and HR professionals, it is a daunting task to identify professionals that, well, don't exist.  But in fact, your next employee does exist.  They are called 'passive' job seekers who just happen to be working somewhere else right now.  Currently employed, passive job seekers are hard to find.  While they aren't actively looking for a job, they are open to opportunities.  So if they aren't looking, how do you land on their radar?  Here's a few tips:

1.)  Go to where the passive job seekers are.  Passive job seekers still want to consider new opportunities.  But instead of actively searching, they are going to local, niche job boards like

www.ahjobslist.com, networking in industry-specific LinkedIN groups, through other social media sites and are participating in their local professional associations.

For example, on AH Jobs List, 70% of our traffic is coming from currently employed, passive job seekers of which the majority identify themselves as mid-senior level professionals.  Over 35,000 subscribers receive our 2x weekly (Tues and Friday) Fresh Jobs Update Newsletter that updates all the new jobs on AH Jobs List.  Our job seekers love being able to quickly scan the newsletter for new opportunities.

2.) Update your 'employer of choice' branding. While passive job seekers aren't actively looking for a new job, they are excited about new opportunities.  But all too often, AH Jobs List receives job posts that neglect to put the most basic of boilerplate information about the company searching for new employees.  What do you do?  What's your history?  Why would someone want to work for you?  As in all branding, job postings should entice an emotion that leads a professional to want to find out more.  Work with your marketing gurus to build your employer of choice brand and you will start to see much more response to your job postings.  CLICK HERE to check out how our client, the Sterling Rice Group in Boulder highlights their employer of choice brand to potential employees in their job postings.

3.) Include salary and benefit information in your job posting.  Working professionals are busy.  They want to know their time will be worth it to applying for your job.  Posting the salary range benefit information will get you more (and better) responses from qualified candidates.

4.) Go 'reverse' recruiting. On AH Jobs List, we have over 11,000 current and updated resumes from local candidates in a wide variety of fields.  These professionals want to be found by you.  They are easy to find, simply sign into your AH Jobs List account and start typing descriptive words into the 'search for all candidates' search bar in the middle of your dashboard.  Detailed profiles and resumes of professionals will appear.  Email me at ahudson@ahjobslist.com and I'll give you 20 free candidate unlock tokens to access all of their contact information.
