Attends will have the opportunity to network with our expert panel, dive deep into real-world topics, and gain practical advice in the following: • Career Paths in Human Resources, the traditional Talent Acquisition route, and non-traditional route • Day and the life of an HR Recruiter • Resume best practices • Inside look of corporation’s recruiting processes and how to get noticed
These panels are ideal for students, early-career professionals, career changers, and even seasoned HR pros. Even if you are not on an HR career path, join us to learn how to optimize your job search, stand out amongst the sea of other applicants, and secure a great offer. Following the event, everyone is invited to Rhein Haus to continue the conversation and network with the panelist and attendees. The schedule for the event is below.
5:00 PM - 5:15 PM – Introductions and Mile High SHRM overview 5:15 PM - 5:45 PM – Panelist, discuss HR career and traditional or non-traditional paths 5:45 PM - 6:30 PM – Panelist, discuss how to get your job application noticed by a recruiter 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM – Proceed to a social hour for deeper discussion and Q&A at Rhein Haus. Bailey Self is a Recruiter for Mercer Advisors. She has worked with and for staffing firms for the last 10 years before moving to a Corporate Recruiting role, and has a passion for talent acquisition and retention. She especially enjoys working with those early in their career to find the right roles and paths to reach their long-term goals. Her professional background also includes accounting and payroll, HR, operations, and sales. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs and curling up with a good book in her free time. Sylvia is the owner of SPANG Career Collective. She began her recruiting career in 2006 in Los Angeles, Ca, before landing in Denver, Co. With a unique combination of agency, corporate, and online recruiting, Sylvia brings a wide scope of knowledge to her clients, providing support to all levels of business. With over 15 years in the industry, she prides herself on the connections she creates with job seekers providing career coaching beyond the average recruiting professional. Grace Healy was born and raised in Colorado. After receiving a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Colorado, she moved around the country while deciding to pursue a Ph.D. in Psychology. While working as a social worker in Boise, Idaho, the question kept coming up “How do I get the right people in the right jobs to provide the best possible care for my clients”? This opened the door into the HR world. Grace received her Masters of Science in Human Resources Education and Leadership Development from Louisiana State University and has held various HR roles in both the private and public sectors. She is currently with the Colorado Department of Human Services and has been with CDHS for the past 4+ years, most recently as a Lead Talent Acquisition Specialist. When Grace is not working, you can find her spending time with her 18-month-old daughter, husband, and dog, CrossFitting, experimenting with Sourdough everything, traveling (pre-COVID), and enjoying beautiful Colorado.
Sarah Montoya-Ortega
Recruiting Event Coordinator, Lockheed Martin Sarah Montoya-Ortega graduated from UC Denver’s MS in Management program this past Spring. Originally a New England native, she had obtained her bachelor’s degree from UConn and had served for 5 years as an active duty Air Force dietitian. After separating from military service, she worked in the healthcare and foodservice industries for a number of years. Then, wanting to do something new, she went back to school to study business and HR. With a degree and SHRM-CP certification in pocket, she was offered an opportunity to work for Lockheed Martin Space as a Recruiting Event Coordinator, a position which she loves! Sarah and her husband Rafael have been married for over thirteen years and have lived in Colorado Springs for almost seven of those. When not at work, they enjoy road trips and traveling, working in their yard, and taking advantage of the many outdoor activities that beautiful Colorado affords. They also love their furry family—a spunky Mini Schnauzer named Oliver and a very curious ferret named Fang. Brendan Allen Recruiter, Emerge professional
Brendan Allen is a recruiter with Emerge, working in the sales practice. He started with Emerge in January of 2019. Prior to that, he ran a healthcare recruiting firm called HealthBridge Partners with his brother, where the primary focus was on the pharmacy arena. What Brendan loves about recruiting is being able to change people's lives. To present to them opportunities that they might not have known existed. Also, to put them in a position where they can succeed. In his free time, Brenden enjoys spending time with his fiancé Molly cooking, camping, and being outdoors.
