Session 1 AI at Work: Navigating Legal Challenges and HR Strategies for Success In this training, Attorney Meghan Hanson will delve into the complex legal landscape that accompanies AI implementation, exploring key topics such as data privacy, discrimination and bias risks, compliance with relevant regulations, and practical considerations for using AI in the workplace. Participants will also gain a deep understanding of the legal implications that arise when utilizing AI technologies in recruitment, performance evaluation, employee monitoring, and decision-making processes. By the end, attendees will be empowered to make informed decisions, develop compliant policies, and foster an environment that balances innovation with legal and ethical considerations. 
Meghan Hanson Meghan Hanson focuses her practice on a wide variety of employment-related matters. She understands the industry in which clients operate and provides valuable counsel to employers as they face sensitive workplace litigation, including discrimination, retaliation, restrictive covenant and trade secret claims. Meghan works with seasoned Polsinelli attorneys to help employers mitigate risk and resolve employee issues before they escalate into legal disputes by developing workplace policies and advising on specific workplace issues. Session 2 A Transforming Landscape: The Effects of the POWR Act
The Protecting Opportunities and Workers’ Rights (POWR) Act significantly shifted how harassment cases are litigated in Colorado. POWR changes the threshold for holding employers liable for harassing conduct in the workplace, mandates changes to settlement agreements, and mandates retention of written and verbal complaints of harassment. This session will review the first-year impact of POWR and consider practical solutions for compliance. 
Marielle Moore Marielle A. Moore has experience representing employers across many industries in all stages of litigation, from severance negotiations through trial, and assisting clients with all of their day-to-day employment needs. She specializes in avoiding and, where necessary, defending against claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation under federal, state, and local laws, including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and various whistleblower statutes. Marielle also uses her expertise to advise clients as to wage-and-hour best practices. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Marielle helped clients navigate complex public health regulations to keep their customers and employees safe and their businesses healthy. 
Kaitlin Spittell Kaitlin Spittell centers her practice on labor, employment, and public entity defense. She represents clients on employment law matters, including discrimination and retaliation, reasonable accommodations, disciplinary actions, compensation and benefits, and various types of contracts which include employment agreements, severance agreements, and stock/employee benefit agreements. Kaitlin defends clients in state and federal courts in Colorado and during the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD) administration processes. She counsels and supports employers to determine practical solutions to resolve matters within the workplace.
